Algorithmic architecture

Algorithms are used by some architects in their work. Fifteen interesting links (that I haven't had time to explore fully) can be found here. The first of them, a portfolio by Michael Hansmeyer, is fascinating. Be sure to check the summary. Algorithms are used both for aesthetic purposes (sections 3 and 4 of the summary) and for optimization (chapter 1, 2 and 5). He displays also interesting fractal pictures (and other ones looking like bad flames...) there, but I didn't see their incarnation in any of his projects.
