Geological artwork
Here are some Google Map views of the Colorado Plateau in Utah and Arizona. Very roughly, the Colorado Plateau was uplifted about 20 million years ago by as much as 3 kilometers. The streams then carved the numerous canyons that can be seen in the region and in these pictures. I discovered these amazing patterns when I was planning my holiday last summer. Of course it's even more amazing when you're actually there, but the perspective is quite different.
